We are all in this together. We are whānau, ‘aiga, familia, Kazoku, 家族, pamilya. My name is Joyce and I’m the Centre Manager here at Pakuranga. We believe in a shared learning environment with purposeful outdoor and indoor spaces. We respect and value our children’s identities, culture and language, through strong and authentic partnerships with whānau. We are passionate about learning and inspire our children to become active learners.

About this centre

Pakuranga Early Learning Centre is a diverse, stimulating, and welcoming environment where your child will develop their confidence and build a lifelong love for learning.

We are a multilingual centre, and we love to acknowledge and celebrate different cultural events throughout the year with our tamariki.

Building relationships with our whānau is really important to us, and we offer plenty of opportunities to come together and share valuable information about your tamaiti.

We provide learning experiences that give your tamaiti the foundational skills for early literacy and maths.

We also offer imaginative and creative play opportunities to support your tamaiti in developing their thinking and problem-solving skills.

Convenience

Our aim is to create the best conditions for your child's learning, wellbeing, and care. We also know how important it is to provide you with the convenience you need and reassurance that your child is in safe hands. Our central location, loving team, and tailored environment are all waiting to be discovered by your whānau.

Located next door is the Te Tuhi art space and Pakuranga Leisure Centre, and near us are the Pakuranga Library and the re-emerging plaza. Full and part-day options are available, and the use of Storypark – our online parent communication tool – are just some of the ways we try to make things a little easier for parents. Local excursions and creative activities are some of the experiences we offer to help your child thrive.

Engaging environment

Our happy and nurturing environment will inspire, stimulate, and empower your child to learn in their own unique way. The outdoor spaces challenge and excite the imagination, while our spacious and light-filled indoor areas offer room for reading, rest, and engaging indoor learning experiences. Our tamariki love obstacle courses, story bags, painting, and waiata.

Connecting with the outdoors

We only know who we are by knowing where we come from. That's why building a strong connection with our whānau and local community is so important. We believe it helps your child develop a sense of belonging and identity, positively influencing their learning experiences.

We are lucky to be a diverse centre of kaiako, tamariki, and whānau, where we celebrate what makes each of us unique. We value learning about the different cultures and languages of our whānau. We have regular community excursions to the local library, arts centre, and leisure centre.

Staff who nurture and inspire

Our qualified and experienced teachers are committed to caring for and nurturing your child. They build a strong connection with each child throughout their early learning journey and go out of their way to ensure every child feels supported and their unique needs are met.

Our teachers create positive opportunities for your child to develop physically, mentally and emotionally. They help guide your child as they navigate new friendships, master new skills and build independence and resilience to get ready for school and lay the foundations for lifelong learning.

Nutrition and wellbeing

We encourage healthy eating habits and offer healthy snacks for morning and afternoon tea to complement each child's BYO lunchbox and food brought from home.

Chinese New Year - A Musical Show

A musical celebration for Chinese New Year! We were so lucky to have our friends from the Pakuranga Leisure Centre visit our Pakuranga Centre and share their beautiful music with our tamariki!
Five talented musicians brought traditional Chinese instruments to life, including the 二胡 (erhu) strings, 月琴 (yueqin) guitar, bamboo flute, and even a Western accordion! Our tamariki were fascinated as they learned about the sounds of strings, wind, bamboo, and lambskin instruments.
It was an unforgettable experience that helped us celebrate the richness of Chinese culture and honour our Chinese whānau.

Te Rā o Waitangi 2026

We celebrated Waitangi Day with ngā tamariki (children) through creative, hands-on activities that helped them connect with the stories, symbols, and traditions of Aotearoa. They explored weaving, made koru collages, and designed Kapa Haka-inspired piupiu skirts. Pēpi (babies) enjoyed sensory experiences with feathers, flax leaves, and natural materials, and joined in wearing Māori dress and moving with poi. These shared moments nurtured creativity, connection, and a strong sense of belonging.
